Learning beyond the numbers
When Lindsay joined Harbor, she was looking for an opportunity to grow her career. Encouraged by former colleagues already working at the company, she quickly saw a culture where learning and development were just as important as the work itself.
Starting as a staff accountant, Lindsay focused on the fundamentals before gradually taking on broader responsibilities. Today, alongside her accounting work, she contributes to financial planning and analysis, helping Harbor forecast performance and understand the bigger picture behind the numbers.
"I've learned so much more than accounting. I've learned how the business works."
As her responsibilities have grown, so has her understanding of how finance supports every part of the organization.
Finding strength in teamwork
One of Lindsay's biggest lessons came while balancing work, university studies and unexpected personal challenges.
At first, she tried to manage everything on her own. Eventually she realized that asking for support wasn't a weakness, it was an essential part of being a good teammate.
"I learned that it’s always okay to ask for help. Reaching out when I needed support reminded me that I didn’t have to do everything on my own.”
Lindsay has grown from staff accountant to helping shape Harbor's financial planning and analysis.
Looking back, Lindsay says she would have spoken up sooner. The support she received from her managers and colleagues reinforced the collaborative culture that first attracted her to Harbor.
"Being a good teammate means knowing when to ask for help, and making sure others know they can count on you.”
Investing in the future
For Lindsay, Harbor has shown that career development isn't a straight line. While working part-time for almost two years, the company supported her decision to return to university and complete her bachelor's degree, encouraging her growth every step of the way.
Now working full-time and contributing to the FP&A team, she's continuing to develop new analytical skills while helping the business plan for the future.
Her advice to anyone starting their career is simple: don't compare your journey to someone else's.
"Everyone has their own timeline. Keep learning, stay open to feedback and trust that your opportunities will come when you're ready."
Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys live music concerts and staying active. She recently took part in Harbor's global wellness challenge, connecting with colleagues across the business while building healthy habits—another reminder that growth isn't just about your career, but about becoming a better version of yourself.
