In this video, David Lampert, CIO of Cadwalader, shares his views with a panel of experts from Harbor, including Terry Coan, Director of Information Governance.
Terry Coan of Harbor kicks off with a discussion of how law firms can prepare to move their document management systems to the cloud from an information governance point of view. Reducing the volume of data to be moved to the cloud by disposing of data that no longer needs to be retained is an important step, also for security reasons.
David Lampert from Cadwalader discusses the importance of change management and communication with internal stakeholders, including practice groups, in preparing for migration to iManage Cloud. Buy-in from firm leadership is critical to the success of IG initiatives. Security is the responsibility of everyone in the firm, not just IT.
Communicating with stakeholders prior to cloud migration also opens new opportunities for IT to engage with the business. For the firm, engaging clients about how you are managing their data and the risks associated with that data helps to build trust.
Kevin Bley of Harbor adds that technology vendors are increasingly introducing advanced features, including AI, in their cloud versions only. He shares insights into newer iManage features discussed in a recent partner briefing, such as automatic classification of documents, which help to make document retrieval a better experience for end users, and facilitate knowledge management.
This is the second in a four-part series, from the Harbor webinar "iManage Cloud and AI Readiness: Key Considerations for Migration, Governance and Adoption".
