Law firm COOs polled by Harbor at a recent Sounding Board clearly signaled that enabling Marketing and Business Development is a top priority for accelerating growth in 2026. The 2025 Harbor Marketing Technology Survey is timely because it highlights the challenges facing CMBDOs as they step up to expand their influence beyond "pockets of excellence" to drive growth across every industry sector and practice group within the firm.
Read the snapshot for several trends we uncovered from the survey results, which underscore the challenges law firm marketers face:
- Limited lawyer engagement with CRM systems (18.2%)
- Different facets of the most common data quality challenges
- Fragmented technology systems that hamper productivity and efficiency.
While enhancing reporting and analytics capabilities, improving data quality, and replacing underperforming systems were all listed as key drivers, over 90.9% of survey respondents reported that "better system integration and data sharing" was their top priority in considering new marketing technology systems.
